"When you're constantly living in the future, you have to leave the comfort zone of what's currently seen as good design." —Vittorio G. Carelli, Founder & CEO, Carelli International Corporation.
Because of the diversity of the Carelli brand today, many are often surprised to learn that our journey began as a direct result of one's early fascination with the engineering of Porsche. Its elements of technical excellence and superior design eventually mirrored itself in the evolution of the Carelli enterprise. In 1973, at a very early age, Vittorio G. Carelli established a service center for Porsche automobiles. The young enterprise located in southern California would eventually become well-known under the simple name Carelli's Porsche. By 1975, sales of the Porsche brand became a part of its daily operations.
By 1978, Vittorio Carelli had acquired a remarkable understanding of every nut-and-bolt of the Porsche product. Armed with this knowledge, the company set forth on independent design ventures which soon provided for the creation of a full-scale transportation design facility located in Costa Mesa, California. The modern facility was dedicated entirely to vehicle transportation design and was often referred to as Carelli Design. The company's passionate founder, now famous for demanding exacting perfection, had developed direct integral ties with the legendary automobile manufacturer Dr. Ing. H.C.F. Porsche AG, in Germany. This relationship led to the 1980-1981 styling of the Carelli Design C928 Porsche.
The success of the C928 project brought acclamation and worldwide recognition to the company's small team of inspired designers and engineers, at the time a mere 28 employees in all. Known by this time as Carelli International, company operations were extended overseas by 1983, establishing one of the most effective independent export operations of Mercedes Benz automobiles. Carelli International would eventually maintain operations in strategic areas in Germany to facilitate its vehicle export business. Superior technical standards continued to dominate the company philosophy, organically applying themselves to U.S. EPA and DOT Federal standards for vehicles intended for import into the United States. In 1985, Carelli engineers were responsible for the development of a proprietary microprocessor-based emission control device. That technology was eventually made available via licensing to the specialized industry of vehicle import-export. Contemporary applications of the LAMDA-based technology remain in use today.
In 1986, Carelli engineers began early experiments in fluid separation technology, and the eventual development of proprietary technologies provided for the birth of EuroSystem Systems & Technology. Today, that technology is referred to as Reverse Osmosis, or RO, and is employed worldwide. Early EuroSystem products utilizing proprietary technology established new benchmarks with performance specifications far above industry standards. EuroSystem is often referred to as the Macintosh of water purification. Carelli International expanded operations in 1989 to Spain. EuroSystem Baleares S.L. España provides multi-tiered distribution of EuroSystem products and services under exclusive rights throughout Spain. EuroSystem RO technology is benefiting companies such as Coca-Cola, Disney, Starbucks, and the Southern California Gas Company.
In 1988, Carelli International expanded its range of activities and established operations in France. Vittorio Carelli International S.A.R.L. France, headquartered in Paris, would provide for new product development, production, and distribution of Vittorio Carelli luxury brands. The Vittorio Carelli ETE Collection, under the direct leadership of Vittorio Carelli, would begin receiving worldwide attention from its Paris-based ELSA team already by 1989. A prestigious list of high-end boutiques from around the world began passionately marketing the Vittorio Carelli brand. Its new manufacturing facility located just outside of Paris produced Vittorio Carelli branded products as well as articles for European labels, the house of Chanel, Herve Leger, and Thierry Mugler, among others.
Today, Carelli International operates several subsidiaries. Carelli Design provides product and experience design, mechanical and software engineering, brand innovation, advertising, photography, audio and visual communication, film, and web development, across multiple technologies, platforms, and media. EuroSystem Systems & Technology, a technology unit of Carelli International, specializes in the design, manufacture, and distribution of ultra-high-end commercial reverse osmosis purification for the medical, pharmaceutical, and food service industries. Vittorio Carelli International S.A.R.L. Paris France, reassigned to U.S. operations in 1993, specializes in the design, manufacture, and distribution of luxury items. The Carelli name embodies 50 years of diverse accomplishments and a rich heritage. Clients include Coca-Cola, Sony, Motorola, Starbucks, Disney, Porsche, GE, China Unicom, and many other Fortune 500 companies.
The company contributes much of its methodology and engineering ideology to those early years influenced by Porsche. It may even be said that one's early unrelenting fascination with the Porsche automobile is responsible for the modern existence of Carelli International today.
We are always honored by the public's curiosity about our work, creative vision, and philosophy. Our Founder and CEO, Vittorio Carelli has always sought to build bridges between inspirational heritage and the future awaiting invention.
